Chair By Giancarlo Piretti For Castelli, 1960s

with Plia, the designer Giancarlo Piretti has re -proposed the concept of folding chair and his study on the “3 -discs” is considered a stroke of genius. The combination of steel and polypropylene frame has paved the way for the chair which has become the object of worship. The chair represents the realization of the “democratic design” and is exposed to the Moma design sector in New York. Thanks to this chair, of which, so far, millions of specimens have been sold, Piretti, nicknamed the “20th century Thonet” has entered the history of design.
… The symbol of a new was focused on plastic matter: this is how the 1967 Plia chair was welcomed when it was presented at the Milan Fair Fair.
